2008-4-23 Alstom Sizhou kickoffs 5S pilot to raise efficiencyAlstom Sizhou kicked-off a “5S” pilot project on 16 April 2008 to improve their quality and operational efficiency. The Alstom Sizhou 5S Management Team established in January 2008, had visited Alstom Tianjin Hydro in preparation for the 5S project. After careful planning and a detailed implementation schedule, the Assembling and Welding Shops and the 4th Floor of the Alstom Sizhou office building were identified as pilots for project implementation. Abrain Management Consulting Co Ltd, a notable local 6 Sigma management consultant will support the Alstom Sizhou's 5S Management Project. Over 400 employees participated in the kickoff meeting led by David Dai, the acting 5S Management Team leader and Alstom Sizhou’s Quality and EHS manger. David explained the concept and implementation of the 5S pilot project to the audience supported by Alstom Sizhou’s Production Manager, Employee respresentative, Integration Director, Abrain consultant and Operation Director, who each presented various aspects and emphasized the importance of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) which forms part of the “Kaizen” philosophy that institutes continuous improvement. Kaizen is based on making little changes on a regular basis: always improving productivity, safety and effectiveness while reducing waste. The pilot project runs till July 2008, serves as the springboard for the larger company-wide 5S initiative to be launched in Alstom Sizhou to help achieve maximum productivity efficiency. 2008-4-18 Alstom Group CFO Visited Alstom SizhouOn 15 Apr 2008, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom Group CFO, paid his first visit to Alstom Sizhou. Henri Poupart-Lafarge, escorted by Alstom China PT/PE & Country Finance Director Yi Liu and Finance Director of Power Service NEA Robert Purcell, arrived at Alstom Sizhou on the morning of 15 Apr. They received a warm welcome from the Alstom Sizhou employees. After being introduced to Alstom Sizhou management, Henri Poupart-Lafarge was led to a plant tour by John Rawlings, Vice President of Power Service North-East Asia, and CEO of Alstom Sizhou Lianzhong Zhang. In the afternoon, he listened carefully to the Alstom Sizhou integration report and finance report. The guests left Qingdao later in that afternoon. 2008-1-12 WALTER GRAENICHER VISITED ALSTOM SIZHOUFrom 8 Jan to 10 Jan 2008, Walter Graenicher, Alstom Power Service President, paid a visit to Alstom Sizhou, as the second stop enroute his 4-leg China trip. Upon arrival in the evening of 8 Jan, Walter Graenicher, together with PS Region 4 Senior Vice President Nirmal Jha and PS NEA Vice President John Rawlings attended the annual New Year dinner party of Alstom Sizhou and received warm welcome from all the employees present. On 9 Jan, after a plant tour in the company of John Rawlings, who is also the Alstom Sizhou Chairman, and CEO Lianzhong Zhang, Walter listened carefully to the Alstom Sizhou key management reports and subsequently introduced the background and progress of PS “One Business” Program to Alstom Sizhou staff. He spoke highly to the achievement Alstom Sizhou have made in the past year and appreciated all the staff and their persevering hard work. At last, Walter Graenicher said that he would continuously give Alstom Sizhou his full support and bid Alstom Sizhou an even more successful 2008. The guests left Qingdao on 10 Jan. 2007-7-10 Patrick Kron visited Alstom SizhouOn 10 July 2007, Patrick Kron, Alstom Group Chairman CEO, paid his first visit to Alstom Sizhou. More than 1200 Alstom Sizhou employees warmly welcomed their top leader . Patrick Kron, escorted by Alstom China Country President Alain Berger, arrived in Qingdao and was greeted by John Rawlings, Vice President of Power Service North-East Asia (PS NEA) and Lianzhong Zhang, Alstom Sizhou CEO. They received a very impressive welcome when they drove into the company compound, as all Alstom Sizhou employees had lined up from the main entrance to the office building dressed in their new Alstom Sizhou T-shirts. After being introduced to Alstom Sizhou’s senior management, Patrick Kron met and addressed Alstom Sizhou staff in front of their office building. He said, “Thank you for your warm welcome and I welcome you to the Alstom family. We fully support Alstom Sizhou's development and hope to draw on Sizhou's excellent relationship with its large customer base to improve Alstom's business in China. I expect Sizhou to be stronger because of Alstom and Alstom to be stronger because of Sizhou. Together we'll share a brighter future.” Patrick Kron was also given a guided tour around the site and facilities by Lianzhong Zhang. A brief one-hour meeting was subsequently conducted with PS NEA and Alstom Sizhou key management, during which John Rawlings presented a development plan for Alstom Sizhou. Joachim Meister, Integration Director, presented an integration progress review, highlighting achievements to date and future actions. The acquisition of Sizhou was finalized on 30 March, and registration of the new Alstom Sizhou group completed on 26 April 2007. 6 items found |

Alstom Sizhou passed the final audit on 3 management system certification of LRQA (Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance) successfully on 26th June, 2009, including ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certificates. Sizhou was the first company of its kind in China to get these Certificates in 1999. To keep conformity with other Alstom units and prepare for receiving oversea orders, the company decided to apply the 3 certificates from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, which is widely recognized internationally. After preparation for about half year, Alston Sizhou passed both the first and final audit smoothly. The certificates will arrive at Sizhou before August. 
Philippe Joubert, President of Alstom Power, paid his first visit to Alstom Sizhou on 21 April 2009.Alstom Sizhou was the 4th stop in his journey of China. Another 5 people escorted Philippe’s visit, including Guy Chardon, SVP of Thermal Products, Hans-Peter Meer, SVP of Thermal Service.
